Path to religiously purposed building

I chose this building as the subject because its tower makes a nice change in line direction for the roof. It also breaks up the sky area to make it more diverse. To answer the inquiry of why there is no parking space for the church, the path could be considered as a path from the parking lot.

Lighthouse point

This is an excerpted section from an attempted pen and wash painting. I think the boat looks rather nice.

House Vignette

Here is the last picture I made from the previously mentioned workshop in California.

It can stand to have the surfaces of the building to have a greater value difference. Also the tree colors turned out rather poorly.

A little something from California

Here is a piece I did during a Tony Couch workshop at Laguna Beach during this past week. An unintended but interesting effect was that the two cliff faces in the piece seem to vibrate.

Woodland Scene

Here is a painting that I did on October 5th that was inspired by one of Tony Couch's pieces.

House

This picture has potential. The subject matter is fine, but it needs a center of interest with contrasting values to bring the picture to life. Unfortunately the bright colors and strong darks of the bushes draw attention away to the wrong place. After all, the house's dominant size suggests that it is the picture's focus, not the bushes.
